My Blogging Experience ...

Hi Friends! This is my last salute ...

When I knew I had to write a weekly post on a blog in English, I took this as an interesting challenge. But not only was a challenge, it was a difficult situation for me. At school the subject of English always cost me, especially when I had to speak and write English. Despite this the first post I wrote about my expectations of the blog, is slowly feeling plight was dissipating.
I recognize that I have enjoyed this experience because I have met on many themes and characters. Many of them important for a person who studies this major, for example topics such as: Politics, Administration and General Culture.

Also knowing about these issues, write to the blog has helped me significantly to improve my management in the English language. Throughout this semester writing on the blog, I learned about the proper construction of paragraphs and sentences. In addition I have learned how to use basic rules in English grammar, such as the use of articles and pronouns.
I think that writing a blog post in English is very important because it helps you to learn significantly more and better language. The first advantage is that writing in English is the vocabulary. When you write paragraphs on technical issues, you can learn many new words that are not a basic knowledge of English language.

When you write in a blog in English class, there are advantages and disadvantages:

1. The principal advantage is than you learn the English language of form more didactic.

2. Other advantage is the possibility of know thoughts of your classmates, so you can know some more about them.

3. The principal disadvantage is its duration, only one class in the week. When you write in your blog, your ideas flow faster.

For many people learn English language could be very difficult, but I can say one phrase: “Yes, you can” ;) ...

See you soon! ...

My Ideal Job ...

Hi Friends!

For many people the policy is synonymous with fraud and dirty things, they may be right. But the situation changes radically when you see the policy and its phenomena with this "dirty cloud". That happened when I was 11 years, and since that age always imagined it would be my ideal job: President of the Republic.

For many people wanting to be President of the Republic is not, they feel it is complete madness. I like this post because you can create policies that will benefit many people; you can lead this process and make Chile a country much better and more inclusive.

Naturally, to be President of the Republic, I must have a solid academic background. Studying my major as a first step to get this training, I also constantly improve my skills both in Chile and abroad.

Also the academic knowledge that I have on politics, economy and other important issues, I must have a strong political party. Anyone who wants to be President of the Republic, they must know that this is an excellent politician. For this reason it is an essential component to achieve the office to know topics such as negotiation, the possibility of reaching agreement, and have a specific policy on different topics.

To be president should join political, academic, and public support. If I achieve this, I hope in the decade of 2040 to work at the Palacio de la Moneda.

The picture is the "Piocha de O'Higgins", the most important symbol presidential.

Roberto Matta and "Verbo America" ...

Hi Friends!

In this post, I’m going to write about one of the most important Chilean artists of XX century: Roberto Matta.

He was born in Santiago in 1911, and he initially studied architecture at the Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago but became disillusioned with this occupation and left for Paris in 1933. His travels led him to meet artists such as René Magritte, Salvador Dalí and André Breton. It was Breton who provided the major spur to the Chilean's direction in art, encouraging his work and introducing him to the leading members of the Paris Surrealist movement.

The first true flowering of Matta's own art came in 1938, when he moved from drawing to the oil painting for which he is best known. During the 1940s and 1950s the disturbing state of world politics found reflection in Matta's work, with the canvases becoming busy with images of electrical machinery and distressed figures. The addition of clay to Matta's paintings in the early 1960s lent an added dimension to the distortions. In his art Matta creates new dimensions in a blend of organic and cosmic life forms. He was one of the first artists to take this abstract leap.

Matta died in Civitavecchia, Italy, on November 23rd, 2002.

The piece of art that I like of Matta is “Verbo America”, a mural composed of 55 ceramic polychrome canes and which has a dimension of 4.80 x 10.60 meters. It’s weighs more than five tonnes, and its value is one million dollars. This mural was donated by the artist to the Chilean people in 1996.

The first I saw this piece of art was a few days ago in his last Location: Quinta Normal Subway Station. I like it because it symbolizes the surreal vision of Matta about America; also it was a gift that he made to the Chilean people, a gift to all of us.

Ken Robinson: "Do you Schools Kill Creativity" ...

Hi Friends! ...

Sometimes the debate about the educational system deals the first pages of newspapers and magazines in different countries because it’s a fundamental topic for the development of a country. In this post, I’m going to talk about the intervention in TED of Sir Ken Robinson, who poses to creativity as an essential component of future educational systems.

Robinson criticized the rigidity of current educational systems because it believes that in they can not be wrong. Not that it's good for people are wrong, but Robinson argued that without this provision than isn't possible to achieve creativity. By contrast, he said than now people are increasingly afraid to make mistakes, and consequently they are less creative.

Robinson says than creativity should be a priority area in education because it allows children aren't oppressed in their intelligence. Also, he raises the need to reformulate the educational standards than are the same throughout the world, so that children will strengthen the area of knowledge where they are comfortable.

Robinson makes a great speech because it expresses a new understanding of education.

The Best in my Field: Arturo Valenzuela ...

Hi Friends!

In this post, I’m going to write about one of the most important Chilean political theorist of the last years: Arturo Valenzuela.

He was born in Concepcion in 1944 and he spent his childhood in his natal city. In 1960 the great Valdivia earthquake destroyed his school, so he moved to the United States for a year as an exchange student to finish school, but he ended up establishing his life there. He earned a B.A. summa cum laude in Political Science and Religion from Drew University and in 1971 he obtained a Doctorate and a Master's degree in Political Science from Columbia University. His studies focused on politics in Latin America.

Valenzuela has been a visiting scholar of different universities in England, United States, Italy and Chile. Currently is the Director of the Center for Latin American Studies in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Also of a fruitful academic life, he has a fruitful political life in USA. In the first Clinton administration was chosen to be Deputy Assistant Secretary for Inter-American Affairs in the United States Department of States. In the second Clinton administration he was chosen to be the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Inter-American Affairs at the National Security Council at the White House.

I think that Arturo Valenzuela is the best in my field because in his books he explains the Chilean political history of the last 40 years. I read one of his most important works: “Chile and The Breakdown of Democratic Regimes”. In it, Valenzuela explains the causes of the Chilean State breakdown on September, 1973. Also, I think than he is the best in my field because in the United States he remains as an important political actor: On May, 2009 Valenzuela was nominated by President Barack Obama as Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs. If it’s confirmed his nomination, he would be “The man of Obama in America”.

My Favorite Photo (Correction) ...

Hi Friends!
If I have to choose between beach, countryside and city, definitely, I choose the city ... Although few believe me, some cities have beautiful landscapes; this picture is a clear example.

My favorite photo is a metropolis. This photo shows magnificently Hong Kong, one of the most important cities in China. Located in the south of the country, this city is incredible. The city has many skyscrapers of different forms and, also, the city has much activity economic, politic, culture, day and night both.

This photo was taken in 2005 and I found it in the Google Image Search. The photo shows the central district of Hong Kong at night from Mount Victoria. I like this photo because it shows than the cities aren’t only routine and gray buildings; the lights, the high buildings, the people and the car traffic are not always bad. In Santiago, from San Cristobal hill, you can view the city in a way similar to this photo. It’s amazing ;)
